Portland State University hosted the sixth and final Rural-Urban Connections seminar last Wednesday at the PSU Native American Student and Community Center. The sketchnotes above and below record some of the issues that came up during the panel discussion (click on the images to view larger versions). Panel participants Cory Carman (Carman Ranch), Alison Hensey (Oregon Environmental Council) and Emily Hall (Stahlbush Island Farms) discussed what is working in the area of sustainable farming, as well as the challenges that still exist.

Doug, can you share some listening skills? Thanks.
Hi xiaoxiao, my listening skills are still improving, and I don’t feel like I have a whole lot of personal expertise yet. But I did find some great suggestions from Sunni Brown. Check them out here: Tips and Truisms: Listening for Graphic Recording or Visual Note-Taking. Thanks for the question – made me realize it’s time to focus more on my listening skills as well! Good luck.
